In 2009 Above re-launched as a title concerned with environmental issues. The new editorial line was aiming at presenting the work of artists and designers whose practices were related to the subject in a constructive way. It featured contributions from Philippe Parreno, Roberto Saviano, Stella McCartney and Hans Ulrich Obrist. We were asked to design a type family for this re-launch that would help moulding the personality of the new magazine.
Our intention was to achieve a range of typefaces that would reflect Above's new editorial line. The resulting type family consists of a slab serif, a sans, an italic and a display version. The latter features a pattern to be used on the cover and openings that would change every issue, bringing a new feel to the design
